New Project Found

This morning I was working on my chandelier after a 3 week hiatus. I was drilling holes in the arms of the chandelier so I could use jump rings to attach the beaded garland that I made. Well, I managed to break 2 drill bits before I could get the 4th hole finished. (There should be total of 10 holes) I jumped in the car and headed towards Walmart. On the way... right there... in the trash...was a perfectly good-used (icky, dirty) shelf. You know I turned the car around and rescued this neglected undiscovered jewel.

As soon I complete chic-ing my shabby chandelier, I want to do the same to this shelf. I know there is a lovely piece of furniture under all of that dirt.

chandelier

Here is an update on the progress of my chandelier. I finally have the whole thing cleaned up, and painted white. Ohhhh it looks so pretty! After I took this picture I started to paint some pink accents. Will post more pictures soon.

Weekend Finds

Here are the Chandeliers that I found this past weekend. I've taken the second one apart...mostly. I'm having a hard time getting into the bottom where the wiring is. If I can't get in there to rewire the chandelier, I'll make it into a candle holder.

Yard Sale-ing

Yesterday my older daughter and I went yard sale-ing. She recently discovered "Steampunk Jewelry" and wanted to try creating her own. We were in search old jewelry pieces and old watches. Unfortunately none were found.

.... BUT....

I have been wanting to take an old standard brass chandelier and turn it into a beautiful "Shabby Chic" chandelier. One of the later sales we went to had a very plain chandelier for $5. While that was a good price, I was able to walk away with the piece for $2.50. It was a hot day, and only getting hotter. The seller was ready to end her sale. Lucky for me!

The last sale we went to also had an old standard chandelier. This seller was more than ready to be done. She was announcing to her customers to make her an offer and she will accept it. I took that chandelier home for $2.

I am ready to start cleaning, then creating. I plan on posting pics soon.
